Fishing Seafish operate in a number of fisheries within the Falkland Interim Conservation Zone (FICZ) and Falklands Outer Conservation Zone (FOCZ) under a 25-year Individual Transferable Quota (ITQ) rights-based system. We hold ITQ in several Falklands fisheries, including:
This ITQ is fished by means of a series of joint ventures and trading agreements.

FIBOW Ltd is a joint venture with Pesquerias Marinenses S.A. (Pesmar) of Spain. At present four Pesmar vessels are chartered by Fibow and licensed to fish in Falkland waters.
Nova Seafish Ltd is a joint venture company with Frigorificos del Morrazo S.A of Spain. The company owns the 2,015 GRT stern trawler ‘Robin M. Lee’ and is involved principally in the Falklands Loligo fishery as well as the South Georgia icefish fishery.

CONSOLIDATED FISHERIES LTD - Seafish has a 12.6% stake in Consolidated Fisheries Ltd (CFL), a consortium of local companies which has exclusive access to the Patagonian Toothfish fishery in Falklands waters, with a yearly total allowable catch (TAC) of 1,200 metric tonnes. CFL is a member of the Coalition of Legal Toothfish Operators (COLTO).
At present CFL owns one longliners, the CFL Gambler. The company is wholly owned and operated from within the Falkland Islands.
CFL own and operate South American Atlantic Services (SAAS), a commercial freight shipping line between the Falkland Islands, Montevideo (Uruguay) and Punta Arenas (Chile).
CFL also has a 50% stake in Falklands Fish Farming Limited (FFFL), a company set up to develop commercial toothfish farming in the Falkland Islands. |
